RGB Run Review With Kids: Photos, Tips, & What to Expect

We didn’t even plan to go to RGB Run that day.

We were just wandering around The District in Tustin, trying to kill an hour before a birthday party nearby, when I spotted the LED floor room on one of the store’s TVs and thought, “Wait, isn’t this that place I saw on Instagram?”

So of course, I walked in, asked a few questions, and before we knew it, we were signed up and ready to play.

If you’re in Orange County and looking for a spontaneous, high-energy activity with your kids, here’s everything you need to know about RGB Run in Tustin.

RGB Run is an interactive LED game room where the floor lights up with color-based challenges that test your reflexes and get your heart pumping. It’s located inside The District at Tustin Legacy, and each group gets a private room to play in.

The games are simple enough for little kids to enjoy—think: touch all the blue squares, avoid the red ones, green means safe—but fast-paced enough that even adults end up sweating. It’s a mix of color recognition, movement, and memory, all wrapped up in 20 minutes of high-energy fun.

From what I saw, it’s best for preschoolers and up, but even younger toddlers can enjoy just running around and naming colors. My 2-year-old was totally into it, even if he didn’t quite follow all the rules.

My RGB Run Review With Toddlers

We went into the RGB Run store in Tustin totally last-minute, and I’m so glad we did.

The moment the game started, my 4-year-old was all in. She understood the rules—touch the blue, avoid the red, green is safe—and she ran around trying her best to follow them. She didn’t always have the reflexes to dodge the red zones, but she was having so much fun she didn’t care.

Huntington, who’s 2, doesn’t quite have the coordination yet, but he loved just being part of it—yelling out “red,” “green,” “blue” as the lights appeared, then flopping on the floor halfway through like a toddler who had given his all.

I didn’t expect to enjoy it as much as I did, but it turned into a full-on workout for all of us. Even though the session is only 20 minutes, between the jumping, sprinting, and color-chasing, I was sweating by the end.

Would I do it again? Absolutely. But next time I’d bring another family or a group of friends to lower the per-person cost. The more people you have, the cheaper it gets—up to 10 or more.

Pros:

  • Super unique experience
  • Got our energy out
  • Both kids had fun, even at different ability levels
  • Staff was super nice
  • Loved having a private room just for our group

Cons:

  • It’s short (only 20 minutes)
  • A little pricey, especially for small groups

Is RGB Run Worth It With Kids?

Short answer: Yes! I went with a 2-year old and a 4-year old, and I was worried they wouldn’t understand the game, but they loved chasing the lights, and I loved that they were running and slept well that night. I could also see this being really fun for older kids and adults. It was super fun for me too!

It’s quick, high-energy, and so fun we were all sweaty by the end. That said, it’s not cheap—but the price per person drops as your group size goes up, so if you can bring more people, it’s definitely more affordable. I’d totally round up another family or two next time.

Kids under 4 may get half off (just ask), and each group gets their own private room.

Kid verdict: 10/10 fun. Parent verdict: Worth it—especially with a group.

What to Expect at RGB Run in the District at Tustin Legacy

Here’s what to know before you go, so you can show up ready to play.

⏱ Length of Time

Each session lasts about 20 minutes, broken up into quick games with 3 mini breaks (around 30 seconds to 1 minute each). It doesn’t sound long, but trust me—you’ll all be tired by the end. My 2-year-old laid down on the floor halfway through, signaling that he was tired.

💰 Price

The cost depends on how many people are in your group—the more people, the cheaper it is per person:

  • 2 people: $19.99 each
  • 4 people: $14.99 each
  • 10 or more: $8.99 each

You can see the full pricing breakdown on their official website.

Toddler tip: Kids who are around 4 and under may qualify for half off, especially if they can’t fully participate. It’s not posted anywhere, but the staff offered it when they saw my kids.

🚗 Parking

RGB Run is inside The District at Tustin Legacy, and there’s free parking in the lot nearby. No issues finding a spot—it’s a pretty big lot. I went on a weekend afternoon and had no trouble.

👜 Gear + Phone Setup

Each private room has a small open entry area, and there’s a cubby outside the room where you can safely stash your purse or backpack.

Inside, there’s a wall-mounted phone holder that makes it easy to snap a few pics or short videos of your group running around the LED floor—hands-free. I loved being able to capture a few moments without juggling my phone, and having it mounted higher gave us a better view of what was happening.

🎟 Booking + Walk-ins

  • Weekdays: You can usually just walk in—no wait.
  • Weekends: Sometimes you’ll get lucky with a walk-in, but they recommend calling ahead or reserving online to guarantee your time slot.
  • Each group gets a private room, so it’s just your family or friends playing together.

Tips for Visiting RGB Run Store With Kids

  • Wear sneakers. You’ll be running and jumping, so closed-toe shoes are a must.
  • You’ll get your own private room. No sharing with strangers—perfect when you’ve got littles.
  • Use the phone holder. Each room has a wall-mounted phone stand so you can record hands-free. I loved that I didn’t have to hold my phone and could actually play. The angle from higher up gave a better view of the whole floor.
  • There’s a cubby just outside the room where you can stash your purse, backpack, or diaper bag.
  • Try to come with more people. The more people in your group, the cheaper the per-person cost. If you can get 10 or more, you’ll pay under $9 each.
  • Kids under 4 may get half off. The staff offered us the discount based on age and ability, so it’s definitely worth asking.
  • Weekdays are usually quiet. We didn’t have to wait at all.
  • On weekends, call ahead. You might be able to walk in, but reservations are safer.

FAQ: Visiting RGB Run With Kids

Each session is about 20 minutes, with quick breaks between games. It goes by fast, but you’ll be surprised how tired you are by the end!

Best for preschoolers and up, but even younger toddlers can have fun just running around and following the lights. My 2-year-old loved calling out the colors even though he didn’t fully “get” the rules.

Not in our experience. The room is dark with colorful lights, but there’s no loud music or flashing lights like at a rave or arcade. It felt more like a glow-in-the-dark obstacle course with moving lights.

Nope, you don’t have to—but you should! You can totally sign your kids up and watch from the screen outside, but this isn’t a sit-on-the-bench kind of activity. You’ll be running, jumping, and chasing lights right alongside your kid. Honestly, just count it as your workout for the day.

Pricing is per person and depends on how many are in your group. The more people, the cheaper it gets:

  • 2 people: $19.99 each
  • 4 people: $14.99 each
  • 10 or more: $8.99 each

Kids under 4 may qualify for half-price, especially if they’re not able to fully participate—just ask the staff when you arrive.

You can walk-in technically, but that doesn’t guarantee that you will be able to play right away since there are only a limited number of rooms.

The staff recommended this to me:

  • Weekdays: Usually yes, with no wait.
  • Weekends: Call ahead or reserve online to make sure you get a time slot.

Each group gets a private room, so there’s no mixing with strangers.

Final Thoughts: Visiting RGB Run With Kids

RGB Run is honestly such a unique experience. It’s fast, fun, and surprisingly intense in the best way. You’ll love it. Your kids will love it. It’s one of those rare things that feels just as much for grown-ups as it is for littles.

Yes, it’s short—and yeah, a bit pricey if you’re looking for something to fill a whole afternoon. But I realized I probably couldn’t go much longer than 20 minutes anyway (and neither could my kids). It’s a perfect burst of energy that leaves everyone sweaty, smiling, and ready for their next snack or sit-down meal.

If you’re already at The District in Tustin, or just want something high-energy and different to do with toddlers or preschoolers, I say go for it.
