My Playpie Review at Buena Park
Playpie is a bright, modern indoor playground tucked inside The Source OC, a Korean‑inspired outdoor mall with plenty of family‑friendly dining and fun just steps away. It transforms into an easy half‑day outing — the kids burn some serious energy playing, then we grab lunch or a treat and browse the shops.
I’ve visited several times with my two kids and my toddler niece, who are now 2, 3, and 4 years old. They love all the slides, tunnels, the ball pit, and climbing zones — but what really stands out is the pretend‑play town. They bounce between the mini restaurant, grocery store, and clinic like they’re running their own little world. There’s also a soft zone just for toddlers, a building‑block corner and some smart interactive digital screens and sensory bins that set this playground apart.
The vibe is calm, clean, and well‑organized. Socks are required for everyone. While you can’t eat inside, there are lots of family‑friendly restaurants and dessert spots right outside in the mall, so the playtime easily pairs with lunch or treats.
✅ Pros
- Great mix of play styles — climbing, sliding, building, pretend play, sensory bins
- Pretend play zones are a huge hit (especially for ages 2–6)
- Modern, clean design that’s fun and not overstimulating
- Toddler‑friendly zone with soft floors and mini slides for ages 2 and under
- Prime location inside The Source OC for an easy outing with food & shopping right beside it
❌ Cons
- No food or drinks allowed inside, so you’ll plan your snack/meal outside the play space
- Grip socks required — bring your own or plan to purchase on site
- Weekend afternoons can get busy, especially once the mall crowd comes in

🎂 Is It a Good Fit for Your Kid’s Age?
What Ages of Kids Will Enjoy It?
Playpie is designed for kids toddler through early elementary — I’d say ages 2–10 get the most out of it. My 4‑year‑old was completely in her element, and my younger one (toddler) had plenty of safe space to explore independently.
Is There a Separate Baby or Toddler Zone?
Yes — there’s a dedicated soft‑play zone for ages 2 and under. It includes padded floors, mini slides, a small ball pit, and soft‑block builds. Infants are free with a paid sibling, which is a nice perk — though there’s not a ton for babies who aren’t mobile yet.
🧦 Sock Policy
- Socks are required for both kids and adults
- Grip socks for kids are required — plan to bring your own or purchase there (approx. $3 each)
- Indoor slippers are provided in the bathroom
🍕 Food & Drink Policy
- No outside food or drinks allowed inside the play area
- No full snack bar inside—just a minimal counter service area
- Water bottles are allowed, and there are water-filling stations
Playpie is located inside The Source OC, so you’re just steps away from lots of food options. Our favorites: Korean fried chicken at Pelicana, BBQ at Gangnam House, and mochi donuts from Mochinut. You can also browse the toy shops for a little extra fun.

Playpie in Buena Park: Is It Worth It?
Yes, absolutely. Playpie hits the sweet spot for both toddlers and early elementary kids, whether they’re into pretend play or not. There’s just so much to do — interactive digital screens, a reading nook, slides, ball pits, tunnels, bridges, even ride‑on cars. My 4‑year‑old was completely in her element, and my younger one had plenty to explore without needing me to hover the whole time.
The fact that it’s inside The Source OC makes it even better. After playtime, we refuel with Korean fried chicken, mochi donuts, or bubble tea — all without needing to load everyone back into the car. The full‑day admission includes re‑entry (though honestly, we never come back after we leave — wrangling kids twice is just too much).
If you’re looking for a bright, well‑designed indoor playground that’s fun for kids and painless for parents, Playpie totally delivers.
