📝 El Camino Real Park Playground Review

We’ve been coming to El Camino Real Park for years—for tennis! But recently we realized it also has a fully shaded playground, and it’s quickly become a favorite. When we play tennis with friends, my husband Bryan and I often take turns: one of us plays tennis while the other watches the kids at the playground.

There are two separate play structures right next to each other—one bug-themed play structure for little kids (ages 2–5) and one adventure-ship-themed play structure for big kids (5–12).

But honestly, my 2-year-old was able to enjoy both. He needed a little help with the big slide (he asked us to slide down with him!), but otherwise he loved the steps, bridges, and activity panels on the bigger structure. He bounced between both playgrounds with no problem.

What makes this playground stand out for me is the shade. Almost the entire play area is covered (except for the swings), which is such a relief in sunny Southern California afternoons. We visited around 12:30 PM on a hot day, and it still felt cool and pleasant. Bonus: bathrooms are located right next to the playground, so no long walks required.

👶 Toddler-Friendly?

Yes! This park is great for toddlers. The 2–5 year-old play structure is the perfect size. My toddler especially loved the bug-themed panels, small slides, and pretend driving wheels.

Even the big-kid structure felt accessible. While the big slide was a little intimidating, my 2-year-old still explored the bridges and steps with no problem. Plus, the shade and on-site bathrooms make it super parent-friendly too.

Open. Not fenced in, but the park is spacious and set back far enough that the parking lot is a good distance from the playground.
