Cerritos Heritage Park honestly feels like a hidden gem—part playground, part outdoor museum, part duck pond. It’s such a unique spot that my daughter keeps asking to go back.
The highlight here is the play island in the center of the park. It’s surrounded by a moat-like body of water with ducks, geese, and even turtles swimming around. You cross a cute little bridge to get to the island, where you’ll find a replica of a 1770s Boston village with slides peeking out of the buildings, a metal chain climber, and secret passageways that feel like something out of a mini theme park. My daughter’s favorite was the hidden tube slide built into the side of the colonial-style house—she went down it at least a dozen times.
Outside the island, there are three additional playground areas with soft rubber flooring and some shade. There’s a mix of toddler and big-kid structures, so no matter your child’s age, there’s something to climb, swing, or slide on. My daughter especially loved the baseball tic-tac-toe activity panel—we played at least five rounds before she sprinted off to the next slide.
The whole park has this charming, historic vibe thanks to touches like the Paul Revere statue and colonial architecture, but it’s still super kid-friendly with wide grassy areas, picnic tables, and sports courts.
Just one heads up—the animals here are bold. We watched a duck nearly snatch a sandwich off someone’s plate, and yes, you’ll want to dodge the occasional pile of duck poop on the island.
All in all, it’s a park that’s just as fun for adults to walk around as it is for kids to play.
