📝 Stanton Central Park Playground Review

Stanton Central Park is one of our go‑tos — it’s big, clean, and always a hit with my kids and their friends. The first thing you notice is the cute train‑shaped playground, complete with built‑in shade roofs and bright, engaging features. There’s even a splash pad that runs from Memorial Day through Labor Day, which makes it extra fun in summer.

I love that the play structures are shaded, so we can actually stay and play longer even on sunny days. There’s a smaller structure for toddlers, but my 2‑year‑old actually preferred the big kids’ one and had no issues climbing and sliding right alongside older kids.

This park has so much to do: slides, web climbers, rock climbers, swings (including sway swings), a short zip line, and lots of open space to move between structures. It’s also a place we’ve been many times and keep coming back to — the kids never get bored here.

🎠 Playground Features

  • Open slides and tube slides
  • Web climbers and rock climbers
  • Rock mini-caves
  • Baby swings and kid swings
  • Multi-user swings
  • Short zip line
  • Separate toddler & big kid structures (2–5 and 5–12)

💦 Splash Pad

Open Seasonally: Daily from Memorial Day to Labor Day (late May to early Sept)
🕛 Hours: 12:00 PM – 5:00 PM

This splash pad water play area is a huge bonus for summer visits — a great way for kids to cool off after the playground. It’s adjacent to the main play area, so it’s easy to bounce between both. Just don’t forget towels, water shoes, and a change of clothes if your kids plan to get wet.

🧱 Ground Surface

Big playground: mix of rubber and wood chips
Small playground: rubber surface

Closed‑toed shoes are best for the wood‑chip areas.

👶 Toddler-Friendly?

Yes. My kids both had a blast here. Even though there’s a toddler structure, my 2‑year‑old spent most of the time on the big structure recommended for 5–12.

🚧 Enclosed / Fenced In?

Open. Not fenced off, but spacious enough that it’s hard for a toddler to reach the parking lot without you noticing.

🚻 Bathrooms

Real bathrooms with seven stalls (one accessible with a changing table).
Open at 7 AM Monday–Thursday and 8 AM Friday–Sunday.

☀️ Shade

  • Shade over the small playground
  • Built‑in shade roofs over the large play structure (part of the steam engine train design)
  • Trees and benches provide shaded seating for parents

🧺 Picnic Tables

✅ Yes — covered picnic shelter and covered tables available for snacks or lunch.

🚗 Parking

✅ Free parking lot with easy stroller access.

🧃 Other Amenities

  • Water play area (open 12–5 PM Memorial Day–Labor Day)
  • Tennis courts
  • Skate park
  • Reservable picnic shelters
  • Baseball field
  • Soccer field
  • Exercise loop trail
  • Two half‑basketball courts

🧠 Tips for Visiting with Kids

  • Bring water, snacks, and closed‑toed shoes (some ground is wood chips)
  • If you go between May–September, bring a towel, water shoes, and a change of clothes for the splash pad

🥪 Nearby Food & Coffee

  • Rodeo 39: A great mix of food vendors
    • Phoholic 2: We usually go here before or after we play for pho. Kids under 5 get a free kids’ bowl. It’s located inside Rodeo 39 and just 2.8 miles (about a 9-minute drive) from the park.
  • Davien Coffee: One of my favorite drive-through coffee shops in Stanton. Try the egg coffee, ube coffee, or the marble drip — all are fantastic.
