📝 Cottage Industries Play Area Review

This hidden gem in Garden Grove feels more like a backyard wonderland than a playground. It’s become one of our go-to spots to meet up with friends or show out-of-town guests with little kids.

What I love most: there’s so much variety in one small space. My toddlers can play for hours and not get bored — and neither do the older kids. From musical walls to a rolling hill for somersaults, it’s packed with surprises.

The shaded sandbox and rotating “merry-go-cycle” are always a hit, but the giant chair photo op and little teepees with tables add a touch of whimsy I haven’t seen at any other play area.

🎠 Play Area Features

• Sandbox (with sand toys and kid-sized chairs)
• Giant Connect 4
• Chalkboard wall
• Musical wall (instruments they can play)
• Lego wall (with real attachable Legos)
• Hills to roll down
• Teepees with shaded seating
• Small basketball hoop + ball bucket
• Climb-in play boat
• Playhouse
• “Merry-go-cycle” (group bicycle in a circle)
• Spacious outdoor layout

☀️ Shade

✅ Sandbox is fully shaded
✅ Some picnic tables and teepees offer shaded seating
🌳 Trees around the perimeter offer light shade
While not everything is shaded, there are enough cool spots for parents and kids to take breaks from the sun.

🧺 Picnic Tables

✅ Yes — a mix of shaded and sunny tables
There are also shaded teepees with tables that are perfect for snack breaks or low-key lunch setups.

🚗 Parking

✅ Parking spots + street parking (8th street)
✅ Parking lot just a block away (7th street and Garden Grove Blvd)
We’ve never had trouble parking — between the plaza spaces, street spots, and full lot a block down, you’ll find something close.

🧱 Ground Surface

Mostly paved, with some artificial turf and a sand area
Wear close-toed shoes if your kiddo plans to dig or climb!

🚧 Enclosure

❌ Not fully enclosed
There’s a partial gate on one side, but the entrance is open and shares space with restaurants. Keep an eye out for fast toddlers!

🚻 Bathrooms

✅ Yes — men’s and women’s restrooms onsite
🚼 Changing table available in women’s bathroom (not men’s — according to my husband!)
