Newcastle Park Playground Review – Westminster, CA (From a Local OC Toddler Mom)

📍 Address: 14720 Kent St., Westminster, CA 92683
🧒 Best for Ages: Sign says 2-12 years old, but both my kids have been playing here since they were 1-year old (there is a small slide and steps and toddler bucket swings that work for them).

✅ This Park Has:

  • Castle‑themed, two‑zone playground
  • Swings for toddlers + kids
  • Inclusive spinner and spider‑net climber
  • Large grass field for running
  • Shaded picnic benches
  • Free street parking

🚫 This Park Doesn’t Have:

  • ❌ Bathrooms on-site (go to the bathroom before you come!)
  • ❌ Dedicated parking lot (but I’ve never had trouble finding street parking here since most visitors seem to be local families who walk over from their house)
  • ❌ Fencing or gates around the playground (but the playground is far enough from the street)

📝 Newcastle Park Playground Review

We’ve been coming to Newcastle Park for years—mostly out of convenience since it’s close to our kid’s daycare. But the June 2025 renovation gave this familiar neighborhood park a major upgrade.

The castle-themed playground is a hit with our whole crew. Our kids (2 and 4 years old) and their friends (ages 5, 7, and 8) all find something to enjoy. The play structure offers some shade from umbrellas and has just enough variety to keep a wide age range entertained.

The playground sign says the castle play structure is for ages 5–12, while the swings and see‑saws are labeled for ages 2–5. That said, we’ve been bringing our kids here since they were 1-year old, and we regularly see younger and older kids using both areas.

Although it’s a small neighborhood playground, the open layout and large grassy field make it feel much bigger. We often start off playing hide-and-seek or tag in the playground and end up running wild in the field.

There’s no dedicated parking lot, but we’ve never had trouble finding free street parking nearby. It seems like most people who visit just walk over from their homes in the neighborhood.

Heads up: there are no bathrooms here. We’ve had to cut playtime short more than once because of this—definitely something to plan around if you’re coming with little ones.

Still, we keep coming back. It’s clean, colorful, and full of fun. Perfect for casual, everyday play.

🛠️ Renovated

Updated June 2025 (new castle‑themed playground)

🧱 Ground Surface

The entire playground area has rubber flooring, which is great for cushioning falls and makes it easier for toddlers to walk or run around.

👶 Toddler-Friendly?

Yes. The playground sign says the castle play structure is for ages 5–12, while the swings and seesaws are labeled for ages 2–5. That said, we’ve been bringing our kids here since they were 1 year old, and we regularly see younger and older kids using both areas.

There’s a small slide and bucket swings that are great for toddlers. While some of the climbers and higher features are better suited for bigger kids, there’s plenty to keep little ones safely entertained—with a bit of close supervision.

🚧 Enclosed / Fenced In?
